World Music Workshops is a brand new music company dedicated to delivering exciting and inspiring world music performances and workshops to schools across the South East of England. Led by our experienced music educator and professional musician Jim Bernardin, children from Foundation through to Key Stage 3 and their teachers can experience and take part in music from many of the world’s most exciting and exotic places, such as South America, Africa, the Caribbean and Asia.
The instruments used in our workshops are beautifully crafted ethnic instruments, from the giant Oriental tam tam to Caribbean steel pans, African drums, Brazilian samba instruments, xylophones and a marimba, to name just a few.
Music learned in the workshops can be reinforced through live performance, either as part of a school show or an evening concert for friends and family.
Music coordinators and classroom teachers can be provided with follow-up material including audio cd’s and workshop content.
We also offer additional team-building activities as an inset day option for members of staff. All workshop content has been devised by Jim Bernardin, and is ‘National Curriculum friendly’!
