Foundation and Key Stage 1
Mexico provides a wonderful introduction to tuned percussion. Via its long tradition with the marimba, a large beautiful xylophone, used to play everything from classical music to Mexican folk songs. We use our marimba in both the Spanish and Mexican workshops.
Key Stage 2
For the Juniors, the Pasadoble and Bolero rhythms and music of Spain evoke images of Flamenco dancing, handclapping, Gypsies, Bullfights and the beauty of the country. The marimba is used to provide the Spanish modal harmony while the drums, tambourines and woodblocks do the rest.
The Pasadoble and Bolero rhythms of Spain and Mexico evoke images of Bullfights, the Matadors, the passion, excitement, beauty and culture of both countries.
